After releasing our first album Euphoria in November 2024, we chose “Spanish Joint” as the first single to mark our next step — a song deeply loved by the hardcore fans of D’Angelo, the R&B/Soul singer who forever radiated genius, individuality, and unmatched charisma. The project began in early 2025 with the intention of releasing on vinyl. Recording was completed at the end of August, the final mixdown shortly thereafter — and just three days later, on October 14, we received the news of D’Angelo’s passing. So why release it now? While this release carries our respect and remembrance, more importantly, we simply, genuinely loved “Spanish Joint” since its release. That feeling is what we wanted to share with the world. We reinterpreted the song through our own arrangement , drums, bass-driven groove, centered around the organ as the melodic vehicle. With deep respect for D’Angelo, we aimed not for a mere replication, but for a new breath — a new interpretation — output through Cruisic’s musicality. Cruisic is a human-driven electronica band formed by track maker Yukinari Iwata and drummer/percussionist Ryusuke Kakizawa. By blending soul music with Latin and jazz elements under the feel of electronica, Cruisic have been pursuing dance music captivating listeners worldwide. First met in a university jazz circle, after years pursuing their musical careers individually, the two began their journey as a band in 2017. Their sound, a unique blend of acoustic drums, synthesizers and sequencers, combines Iwata’s broad electronic music background with Kakizawa’s experience in pop and jazz fields.
In September 2018, Cruisic released their adventurous cover of “Jazz Carnival” a staple of Brazilian fusion music by the Brazilian jazz-funk trio Azymuth. This medium-tempo arrangement, which sits at the crossroads of samba and jazz underpinned by the strong basis of dance music, not only caught the attention of domestic radios and DJs but also garnered international acclaim, played at the ending of a BBE radio program. “Jazz Carnival” would be re-released as a single alongside the jazz version of “Pacific” by Jazz Room, a label led by veteran jazz DJ Paul Murphy. This 2022 re-release achieved significant recognition globally, topping the JUNO Weekly Jazz Chart. “Jazz Carnival” was also featured in BBE Music’s compilation album “The Jazz Room vol.2 Compiled by Paul Murphy,” marking a steady rise from their debut single.
Their second release was a cover of the electro house smash hit “Inspector Norse” by Todd Terje. The track was highlighted on World Wide FM, generating buzz. Five years later of the original release, in 2024, Cruisic released a 7 inch single “Inspector Norse Remixes,” including the new ”ET Remix.”
Their third release was “Floating,” an original song structured over the bassline of “There’s Nothing Like This,” Omar’s 1990 hit song, a lounge/chill track produced under the heavy influence of acid jazz. It has been highly acclaimed on both local and international club scenes and was featured as the opening song in DJ Patrick Forge’s playlist, known for his work with Da Lata, and on World Wide FM. It received high praise from audiences around Asia and Europe, especially during their third live performance at Zandari Festa, Korea.
In 2022, their cover of 808 State’s iconic “Pacific State” achieved a massive hit, 7 inch records quickly sold out and featured as the first track in notable programs like J-Wave Tokyo and Tokyo FM’s “DJ MURO KING OF DIGGIN’.” The track, alongside its B-side “Pacific 4beat Version,” spread worldwide, being played by prominent DJs like Collen ‘Cosmo’ Murphy and Kev Beadle on World Wide FM. As said the track was re-released with “Jazz Carnival” by Paul Murphy’s Jazz Room and highlighted in the “Special Best of 2022 Bandcamp Weekly Shows.”
Their fifth work was a cover of Tania Maria’s classic “Come With Me,” featuring the soothing male voice of Baku Furukawa. It garnered attention before its release on Patrick Forge’s playlist and was notably rewound by Macca on NTS’s “The One Glove Breakfast Show” for a second full play, gaining high acclaim from global listeners. It was also featured on “Bandcamp Weekly,” further expanding their listener base, especially in Europe.

岩田幸也 2003年にFlatThreeとしてSony Webstar Auditionで勝ち上がり、04年Flower Recordsからリミックス作品のリリースを皮切りに、オリジナルアルバムを2枚リリース。1stアルバム「Sky Is The Limit」の収録曲「Sesso Brillante」が ジャイルス・ピーターソンのプレイリストに加わるなど高い評価を受けている。また、DJとしての活動を東京をベースに10年以上続けており、ハウスミュージック・プロダクションチーム「SPECTA」では4つのシングルをリリース。リミックス、プロデュースワーク、映画音楽、CM音楽など制作クオリティーには定評がある。一方でのバークリー音楽院（米国）で、Ableton Live SpecialistとしてCertificateも取得している。
Yukinari Iwata
As a member of a club oriented jazz unit FlatThree formed in 2003, Yukinari Iwata won through the Sony Webstar Audition. Starting with a remix album released from Flower Records in 2004, the group has released 2 original albums. The albums were well received domestically and overseas, Gilles Peterson added “Sesso Brillante” from their 1st album “Sky is the limit” to his playlist. As a DJ, Yukinari Iwata holds parties in Tokyo regularly, and has released 4 singles as a member of a house music production team SPECTA. He has established reputations for his production quality of remix, produce work, movie soundtrack and TV commercial field. In addition, he got and received the certificate from Berklee Music College as an Ableton Live Specialist.
As a member of the critically acclaimed Japanese band Tornado Tatsumaki debuted in 2001, Ryusuke Kakizawa released four albums and toured nationwide with favorable reputations. After the hiatus of the band, he has been playing as a session drummer in numbers of recordings, live performances and jazz gigs. Besides drums, he controls latin/brazilian/indian percussions with his reliable technique, and pursues new sounds and beats restlessly and indefatigably.

Cruisic are releasing their cover of “Finally,” one of Kings Of Tomorrow’s best-known songs and one of the most significant house music tracks of the 2000s. The recording features jazz singer Misa Sugiyama, Cruisic’s long time friend. While emphasizing the ever-lasting euphoria of the original tune, Cruisic does what they do best. Blending Misa Sugiyama’s embracing voice with sizzling drum beat and orbiting electronica, under the jazzy and organic Balearic feel. Welcome to the 2nd Volume of the Jazz Room series compiled by DJ legend and label owner Paul Murphy. Following on from the success of the original Jazz Room compilation released by BBE in 2019 Paul has compiled a double vinyl volume of Jazz dance tracks that range from heavy funk of New Orleans to Latin grooves and contemporary jazz from the new generation. Tracks written by Dizzy Gillespie sit with those from the musical pens of Raul Monsalve and Fela Kuti. Paul’s own label, Jazz Room Records, specialises in re-issues and it is his expertise in finding the rare and the obscure and matching with the new and the fresh that creates the joy filled atmosphere on this compilation. This album really is as much for the party people as it it for the headz and links the audiences from his legendary gigs in the 1970s and 80s at the Electric Ballroom, 100 Club and The Blue Note to those at his current appearances at Spiritland, Shiftless Shuffle and Brilliant Corners. Indeed, among the rarities and the global rhythms in this collection are some excellent cover versions of tracks from the aforementioned Fela Kuti, The Stranglers, Azymuth and The Human League (yes, The Human League). What Paul Murphy has done here is compile a selection of tracks that could easily be a DJ club set, a soundtrack to a party, a Summer festival highlight or a night of music appreciation with a favourite tipple and partner. Jazz Carnival、Inspector Norse、Floatingと、リリースを重ねてきたCruisic。今回は’89の大傑作、808 StateのPacificを、悶絶バレアリック・カバー!B-Sideにはジャジーにスウィングするセルフ・リミックスを収録。
前作”Floating”そして”Lady Dahlia”を収録した7インチ・アナログが、国内はもとより欧州を中心に海外でも高い評価を得たCruisic。実はその時すでにレコーディングしていた本楽曲を、いよいよ2022RSDにてリリースする運びとなりました。今回は80年代末期のマンチェスターで結成された伝説の808 Stateの代表曲として、更にはアンビエント・ハウス・シーンにも大きな影響を与え、今もなお色褪せない魅力を放つ大名曲、”Pacific”のカバーです。原曲に散りばめられた鳥の囀りをも再現しつつも、より現代の感覚にフィットするバレアリックなテンポ感とサウンドで展開し、Cruisicならではの生ドラムとシーケンスの融合により完成されたCruisic版”Pacific”です。B-Sideには4ビートにウッドベースで展開した新感覚の”4Beat Club Version”を収録。本家が7インチ・リリースの際に命名したタイトル”Pacific-707″をも踏襲してのリリースです。初回完全限定盤。
Last year Cruisic released their 3rd 7 inch analog single “Floating / Lady Dahlia” which gained acclaim from domestic and European club music scene. During the release, Cruisic was recording their cover of Manchester legend 808 State’s timeless masterpiece “Pacific”. Original track hugely influenced the ambient house scene since 1989, Cruisic’s cover of “Pacific” will be seeing its release on Record Store Day 2022 April 23rd. While featuring bird chirpings as the original track, Cruisic rearranged the song into a Balearic sound and groove with electronica and acoustic drums combined. B-side “4Beat Club Version” is a swing jazz version featuring a running contrabass as the groove setter. Paying homage to the original 7 inch single, Cruisic’s release will be named “Pacific 707”

昨年9月、Azymuth “Jazz Carnival”のカヴァーをリリースして、ちょうど1年ぶりとなるCruisicの新作は、言わずと知れたノルウェーのDJ/Producer、Todd Terjeによる2012年に発表され、以来世界中で大人気の名作”Inspector Norse”をカヴアー! 原曲の持つシンセポップ感を残しつつも、生演奏+シーケンスという、Cruisic独特の編成でリ・アレンジされ、よりファンキーかつドラマティックに仕上がりました。 B-Sideには、昨年の”The Right Way”以降、圧倒的なペースで作品をドロップし続けているSlowlyによるリミックスを収録!こちらは彼らが得意とするレゲエ・フレイヴァーを散りばめ、ゴキゲンなディスコ・レゲエ~バレアリックなアレンジとなっていて、原曲の持つポップさをSlowly流に解釈した作品となっています。 両サイドともにキラーな本作品!こちらも初回完全限定プレスとなります。
Cruisic’s coming single covers “Inspector Norse” the world wide smash hit from year 2012 by Todd Terje, Norway’s outstanding figure in modern disco music. Cruisic arranged “Inspector Norse” by fusing the original synth-pop texture with their unique electro-acoustic style to offer a funky and dramatic version of the song. The 7 inch single features Slowly’s masterful reggae flavored Balearic-disco remix on the B-side. The single had been aired on World Wide FM prior to its release, receiving attention from numerous record shops and DJs.
First release from Cruisic is “Jazz Carnival” a cover of the classic Brazilian-fusion instrumental tune by the jazz funk trio Azymuth. Cruisic arranged the famous song into a medium dance tune where samba and jazz meet. By featuring cosmic synthesizer sounds and a hard blowing saxophone upon an electronica driven samba beat, Cruisic brings the heat of the 1970s and the cool of modern jazz together.
Jazzy hip hop track composed by track maker Yukinari Iwata, “Quartz” intensely features Yuko Ichizuka, Hammond Organ and piano player from Banana Needle with chilling electronica and trashy drum sound. Two different sounds, acoustic and electronic, interact and improvise together.
